Vicken Parsons is known for her paintings of architectural spaces, both physical and imaginative. Parsons has applied this exploration to Glyndebourne’s stage and sets, selecting a work that had a ‘seeing through-ness’ to it; an opening up and feeling of expansiveness. Drawing parallels with her own practice – transforming a very small, flat plane into an expansive space for the viewer to dwell and how she feels about the magical space of the stage, Parsons captures the moment an audience is transported into another world.
Vicken Parsons (b. 1957) lives and works in London. Parsons has exhibited at Kristof De Clercq Gallery, Ghent, BE; RX Gallery, Paris, FR; Cristea Roberts Gallery, London, UK; Jesus College, Cambridge, UK; Ivorypress, Madrid, ES; Christine Koenig Galerie; Vienna, AT; Kettle's Yard, Cambridge, UK; Royal Academy of Arts, London, UK; Foundling Museum, London, UK; Turner Contemporary, Margate, UK and Tate Britain, London, UK.
